Jossette Reilly is a professional flamenco dancer from San Juan, Puerto Rico, with over 30 years of experience in the art form. She began her dance training as a child at a multidisciplinary academy, studying contemporary, classical, and Spanish dance. In 2001, she moved to Madrid, immersing herself in flamenco under the guidance of renowned masters, including those associated with Joaquín Cortés.
Throughout her career, Jossette has performed with notable flamenco companies and toured as a soloist with Ricky Martin and Jennifer Lopez, gaining valuable insights into both commercial and artistic realms. She has also attracted interest from prominent artists, including Madonna.
Since relocating to Malmö, Sweden, in 2019, she has taught flamenco locally and internationally. She collaborated with Cullberg Co. on Alma Soderbergh’s choreography “Noche” and performed in “Høst” with the Recoil Performance Group. Her productions Flamenco Collective and the successful “Women’s Tablao,” have been showcased in prominent venues like Sommarscen Malmö among others.
In 2021, she co-founded “Tablao Flamenco Malmö” with musician Stephan Jarl, hosting live flamenco shows and featuring artists from Scandinavia and beyond. Her decade-long experience in Istanbul deepened her understanding of cultural influences on flamenco, culminating in her work “La Gallina Pollona,” which fuses flamenco rhythms with her Puerto Rican heritage. Her work reflects a deep interest in the interactions of history, roots, culture, and tradition.
